On April 25, 2026, the Miami Central (MAC) Trail celebrated its grand opening — connecting Bunker Hill Town Park to McGrawsville and officially becoming part of the Nickel Plate Trail system. The 5-mile paved trail is open to walkers, cyclists, and anyone who wants to get out and explore.

A crowd of supporters, volunteers, and trail enthusiasts gathered at Bunker Hill Town Park to mark the occasion. Mike Kuepper, NPT Board President, shared remarks about what this new connection means for the region and the future of the trail.
The MAC Trail follows a historic rail corridor southeast from Bunker Hill, passing by Maconaquah High School on its way to McGrawsville — a smooth, gentle route open to people of all abilities.

The blue Great American Rail-Trail ribbon — bearing the motto United We Trail — stretched across the newly paved trail surface, ready for the ceremonial cut. The MAC Trail is now part of this ambitious coast-to-coast trail network championed by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy.
