Held in April, the Lutheran Health Tiger Trot is a 5K/10K/15K Run on the Nickel Plate Trail, The event ends with a picnic lunch and pre-registration costs includes a shirt. Event proceeds benefit the Peru Bengal Backers Booster Club.
Held in July, the J.U.G. is a 5K Walk/Run is in memory of Sara Herrell. All proceeds go to the Guthrie Family Community Fund. Race takes place on the Nickel Plate Trail. Race is held the same Saturday as the Circus City parade.
Held in July, Friday Night Lights is a 20 mile ride along the Nickel Plate Trail north, followed by a DeAngelo’s post-ride pizza party.
Held in August, the Walk Warrior 5K walk/run is part of the Annual Denver Lion’s Club Festival It starts in the middle of Denver, takes you on the Nickel Plate Trail and ends up the hill on the local “Wild Man” Road.
Held in September, the Tri Kappa Superhero 5K is a walk/run to help raise awareness for the need for more foster parents within Miami County. The sorority partners with the DCS, CC’s Closet, and the Council for Prevention of Child Abuse in Miami County.
Held in October, the Cole Porter Classic is a 5K and 15K Walk/Run. The 5K and 15K courses start downtown and run along Peru City streets. The 15K continues across the newly finished Wabash bridge and along the Nickel Plate Trail, with both races finishing at the Peru Circus Building. All proceeds from the event go to benefit the Nickel Plate Trail.
Held in October, the Chili Night Ride is a 16 mile ride that begins at Harvey Hinklemeyers with a police escort to the Nickel Plate Trail, then ride south 8 miles, turn around, and return to Harvey’s for chili at the post-ride party.
Held on Thanksgiving Day, the Trot n’ Gobble is a 5K or 10K walk/run that begins at Anytime Fitness. The race takes place on the trail, with all proceeds benefiting Relay For Life and Babe Ruth Youth Baseball.
