We are pleased to announce that the Peru Rotary Club, Dukes Memorial Hospital, Breakaway Bike and Fitness Shop and the Miami County Chamber of Commerce have collaborated again this year to make the Cole Porter Classic an all day extravaganza!! You are invited to bring the whole family and enjoy a special day in Peru and Miami County. There is something for every age group, from the young to the young at heart.
Starting at 8:00 am, in the Peru Circus Arena, Dukes Memorial Hospital will kick-off their Health Expo and beginning at 9:00 am, the 25th running of the Peru Rotary Club’s Cole Porter Classic Run/Walk will get underway just east of the Circus Arena.
Following the Cole Porter Classic and the Health Expo, the Miami County Chamber of Commerce’s 2011 Oktoberfest will be getting underway at the Riverwalk. There is a Chili Cook Off, Miami County Museum History Celebration, kid’s interactive activities, music, beer and wine tent, food and just plain fun for all ages.
Breakaway Bike & Fitness Shop will be sponsoring “After the Run Bicycle Ride.” This is a great event to be able to run and ride or just ride. We will start at 11:00 am (or after you return from the run). You can choose a 20 or 45 mile route, south along the Nickel Plate Trail crossing the newly completed Peru Bridge. Registration is required and is free with a paid Cole Porter registration! Bike helmets are required. Dukes Memorial Hospital 5th Annual Health Expo
At this year’s Health Expo we will be offering several free health screenings, which include blood pressure, glucose, bone density and Body Mass Index (BMI), along with wellness, nutrition and diabetes information. From 9:00a.m. to Noon the Kids BMV will be on site giving out complimentary children’s identification cards. Miller’s Merry Manor will be providing lunch from 11:30a.m. to 12:30p.m. There will be entertainment and several area vendors on display. We will also be giving away an IPod Touch as our grand prize, which will be drawn out of all Health Expo attendees. A promotional bag will be given to everyone who attends. The Health Expo begins at 8:00a.m. and will conclude at 1:00p.m.
Oktoberfest 2011
Oktoberfest is a family-oriented event filled with fun, entertainment, music, heritage, food along with a chili cook off. This is one event that you will not want to miss! Oktoberfest will run from 12 Noon until 4 pm on October 1, 2011. There will be live music during the entire event. There is going to be a Chili Cook-off sponsored by Harvesting Capabilities between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM. There will be a beer and wine tent and picnic tables for everyone to enjoy their meals, have something to drink, listen to the great music and vote on some awesome chili! The Miami County Museum will be celebrating culture, history and heritage of our county through interactive activities and vendors. |
